Donkey Kong Jungle Beat is a
Nintendo GameCube video game featuring the gorilla Donkey Kong and played with a pair of drum-like controllers (tarukonga). It was released in Japan on December 16, 2004, Europe on February 4, 2005 and in North America on March 14, 2005. Gameplay involves combat, jumping and counterattacking. Instead of a regular game controller, Jungle Beat uses the drums to control Donkey Kong's (DK's) actions. Hitting the left drum causes DK to move left, while hitting the right drum causes him to move right. Hitting both drums at the same time causes Donkey Kong to jump. Clapping one's hands also causes Donkey Kong to clap, which has various consequences depending on the situation. The controllers are also used to play the Donkey Konga musical drumming game series. This is a unique game in the nature of play; it is a platformer where the goal isn't simply to get to the end of the level. The goal is to get as many points, or "beats," as possible. Beats are obtained by grabbing bananas during gameplay and lost by getting hurt or falling. The player can obtain additional beats by performing combos while grabbing the bananas. For example, three combo moves will earn four beats for each banana collected. Combos can go as high as 30, meaning that 31 beats can be earned from a single banana.

New Menu Music
Collect all 72 crests and a new song will play when browsing the main menu.

Ninjapes in Ending Ceremony
Collect all 72 crests and beat either VS CACTUS KING or VS GHASTLY KING. During the Ending Ceremony most of the white chimps have now been replaced with Ninjapes.

Total Beats
Collect all 72 medals and your total number of beats will be displayed on the title screen (upper left corner).

Secrets

Alternate boss endings
When fighting a Roc boss, make the final blow the stunning attack, as opposed to attacking the bomb-thingy the Roc is carrying. If you do this, you'll gain a different boss death sequence than the normal one.

Having trouble with the game's final boss? We've got a video of this fight and it will surely help you get past him:
