The owner of the LA Clippers is now involved in a huge scandal after recordings of his conversations with his girlfriend V. Stiviano were leaked to the media and he was revealed to be extremely racist. Real estate tycoon and television personality Donald Trump thinks none of this would have happened had it not been for Stiviano, whom he brands the “girlfriend from hell.”

Trump called in on Fox News to address the ongoing scandal and, while he admits that what Sterling said was very offensive and wrong, he argues that no one would have been wiser for it had it not been for Stiviano. Clearly, Trump believes it was Stiviano who leaked the recordings to the press, even though her attorneys have already denied it.

“It's terrible, he got set up by a very, very bad girlfriend. Let's face it: That whole thing is – she's called the girlfriend from hell. It's so bad. She was baiting him, and she's a terrible human being. And he gave horrible answers, and disgusting answers. You're right, it's a private conversation. But it became very public,” Trump says.

You can hear his full statement on this in the video embedded at the end of the article.

When one of the Fox co-hosts mentions a report according to which Sterling asked Stiviano to record their conversations so that he could play them back and refresh his memory, which, apparently, is in very dire state, Trump jumps to the conclusion that Sterling could actually be not well mentally.

In this case, what Stiviano did by “baiting” him and then leaking it to the press is even worse.

“The way she led him along. He should know, if he were there, if he was with it, he would know after one or two of those questions that she was answering and asking that there's something going on here. You look at the way he's being baited, just constantly being baited,” he said. “I read part of a transcript, and it was ridiculous.”

Still, Trump admits that the NBA is in a position in which they must take action. He too believes that Sterling will be removed from his position as owner of the Clippers, one way or the other, because the things he said prove both that he’s a horrible person and “close to incompetent.”

Sterling is yet to address the controversy but, for many, the tapes speak for themselves. In the first one that emerged, he was instructing Stiviano to stop “promoting” his association with black men by posting photos on her Instagram.

In the second, he explained to her that he made the Clippers, not the players, who happened to be black. He also pointed out to her that he fed and clothed and bought cars and houses for them, when no one else would.
