As rumored in early 2015, real estate mogul slash television personality Donald Trump aka The Donald is running for US President in the 2016 elections. The announcement was made minutes ago at the Trump Tower in New York City, E! Online reports.

Trump had long teased Americans with the possibility of running for office, even throwing his name in conversation a lot before the 2012 elections. Each time, though, nothing would come out of his promises.

All that is over now: introduced on stage by his daughter Ivanka Trump, Donald announced that his campaign slogan would be “Make America Great Again” and highlighted some of his campaign objectives.

He criticized Obamacare and talked about the high rate of unemployment, and the lack of business on huge markets where the US was very present a while back.

“We don't have victories anymore,” he said. “The US has become a dumping ground for everybody else's problems. It's true, and these are the best and finest.”

He promised to right all the wrongs he talked about, thus bringing the country back to its former glory. The problem with Trump is that, no matter how well intentioned he is and the kind of backing he receives, the wider public tends to see him as a jokester and a fraud, for not knowing to keep his playing cards closer to the vest in the past.

Getting involved in stupid celebrity feuds and going on rants on social media have chipped away at his public image, and chances are he might not be able to fix all that damage in a Presidential campaign. Or… could he? Do you think Trump stands a chance in the elections?
