Apple’s latest confirmation that the white iPhone 4 is being delayed again has spurred speculation, and perhaps even confirmation, that the handset will never see the light of day. Light likely being the main reason for the delay, as one source reveals.

According to a report by BGR’s Jonathan S. Geller, new information has emerged regarding Apple’s white iPhone 4. “We have been told that Apple in fact has no plans to release [it],” the source reveals.

BGR’s source “hypothesizes” that Apple will confirm another ‘delay’ around March which would lead everyone into an iPhone 5 release a few months later.

Brian X. Chen writing for Wired’s Gadget Lab believes that the departure of Mark Papermaster, Apple’s executive in charge of iPhone hardware, has something to do with it.

Calling it “a telling incident”, the editor cites multiple anonymous sources as saying Papermaster was ousted because of the antenna flaw, as well as the delay of the white handset. The blogger seems to be on the same wave length with fellow writers, as his advice is to not wait for the white iPhone 4 any longer.

Leander Kahney, the author of “Inside Steve’s Brain”, cites his own sources as saying that “The white iPhone 4 has been delayed because it can’t take good pictures.”

It seems that the semi-translucent glass case leaks light in, especially when the built-in flash is used to take pictures. As a result, photos emerge washed out, the source told the author.

This knowledgeable person reportedly has connections to Apple, but is not an actual staffer working for the Cupertino giant.

The source reportedly added that such a flaw may require a complete redesign, thus explaining the numerous delays. “It was only during testing of some early cases that the problem was found,” this source allegedly told Kahney.

Update: To make matters even worse, the White iPhone 4 listings have now disappeared from the online Apple Store.
