The installation of the latest LibreOffice is very simple

LibreOffice is the best office suite on the Linux platform, but Canonical usually takes a long time before getting the latest version in the official repositories.

Other distributions, such as Arch Linux for example, get the newest version of an application as soon as it’s released, but in Ubuntu it takes a little longer to arrive.

If you are tired of waiting for Canonical to get the latest LibreOffice 4.0.3, which is in fact the best version release so far, there is a very simple method to install it. It requires the use of a terminal and of an official PPA.

All you have to do is open a terminal and enter the following commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/libreoffice-4-0 sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

When the updating process finishes, just restart any instances of LibreOffice and the latest 4.0.3 will be installed.
