Don't Starve gets a lot more dangerous today – like it needed to – with the official launch of its DLC expansion pack, Reign of Giants.

Don't Starve is a very difficult wilderness survival game, an uncompromisingly gruesome experience where you have to gather what supplies you find during the day and then brace yourself for nightfall.

The gaming community seems to have gotten weary of save-scumming, and as such the survival genre is at its all-time peak, as demonstrated by Rust, DayZ and other such titles. Don't Starve offers a similar experience at its core, with a completely different tone and presentation.

Its first DLC pack, Reign of Giants, adds a ton of new characters, items, various festive foliage and worst of all, new creatures. Reign of Giants has been available through Steam's Early Access feature since the beginning of April, but now it's officially out in its final version.

Reign of Giants is currently offered at 10 percent off its regular price, going for $4.5 / €4.5. Additionally, Don't Starve is also offered at a 66 percent discount that ends today, bringing the game down to just $5 / €5.

Developer Klei Entertainment said that they were working on bringing the Reign of Giants DLC pack to the PlayStation 4 version of Don't Starve, so stay tuned for more news.
