Christmas is still weeks away – maybe even an eternity, if one happens to be a Buddhist – but this does not mean that people aren't already thinking about what to buy for their friends and families.

The problem is that, unlike a few decades ago, shopping aficionados have quite a lot of options to choose from and could easily get confused.

Leave it to actor and comedian Ricky Gervais to get them out of trouble. According to Ecorazzi, Ricky recently shared some holiday shopping tips on Twitter, and animal rights activists were among the first to agree with him and urge people to take his advice.

“When xmas shopping please don’t buy into cruelty,” the comedian reportedly told his followers. “No real fur, no foie gras, & don’t give anyone a Cliff Richard calendar. That’s just nasty,” he added.

He did not say anything about it, but many would agree that cosmetics tested on animals, pillows, and clothes made from down should also be added to the list.
