Researchers say the friendship between two male dolphins can last for up to 15 years

Several previous studies have pointed out similarities between the behavioral patterns of dolphins and those of humans. Still, the news that these marine mammals form so-called bromances will probably take some people by surprise.

Wildlife researchers at the University of North Florida have recently published a study documenting the ways in which male dolphins relate to one another.

They say that, whenever two males come to the conclusion that they get along fairly nicely with one another, they form a pair.

More precisely, they begin spending loads of time in each other's company, HuffPost explains.

Besides, each of the male dolphins helps the other herd fertile females in order to mate with them, and makes sure that no other males drop by looking to spoil the fun.

“That hasn't been shown in any other animals besides humans, so it's a really big finding,” Dr. Quincy Gibson states.
