14 DAY TRIAL // This amazing video shows a rather rare sight – that of a dolphin mother giving birth to her calf. The clip was filmed at Dolphin Quest Hawaii, on Monday, September 17, and was shot by Mike Peterson.
The newly born female calf is healthy, says the team that takes care of both her and her mother. It now remains to be seen how it will endure its first 30 days of life, which are the most critical time for dolphins. If it manages to survive, the baby dolphin will be alright.
This is the first second-generation calf to be born at Dolphin Quest since the conservation marine park opened, more than 24 years ago. Workers will take good care of the pair, keeping them both under 24-hour surveillance to ensure that the calf survives.
