Dolphin, the team behind the popular browser family for Android devices, has just announced a new beta release for the Mini flavor.

Dolphin Browser Mini 1.3 Beta aims to provide a faster user experience for Android 1.6 smartphone owners.

It is also available for newer iterations of Google's mobile platform and can be considered a less powerfull version of Dolphin Browser HD and the upgraded version of Dolphin Browser.

For those who are not aware of Dolphin's browser portfolio, Dolphin Browser HD is the most powerful browser among the three and targets mid- to high-end devices that run on Android 2.0 or newer platforms. It is also the first Android browser to support add-ons.

Dolphin Browser Mini 1.3 Beta can be considered a major update as it considerably improves user's experience. The most important change is the Settings UI redesign, which can be noticed as soon as the settings page or gestures are accessed.

Another major improvement is the “Gesture Store,” a new option where users can chose any of the 50 pre-loaded gesture patterns and associate them with any actions.

As the software is still in beta stage, users are encouraged to send feedback concerning the latest changes made by the Dolphin Team.

According to the developer, more improvements are on the way, as soon as enough feedback is received.

Dolphin Browser Mini 1.3 Beta is available as a free download from Softpedia. The application is compatible with all smartphones running Android OS 1.6 or newer.

Dolphin is also working on a tablet version of its popular browser, which will be called Dolphin Browser for Pad. The application was showcased at the 2011 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and will probably be available on the market next month.

Stay tuned for a comprehensive review of Dolphin Browser Mini as soon as the final version becomes available from Android Market.
