While accusations are still pending for a fight Doherty got into with an Italian reporter less than a month ago, back home, the troubled rocker admitted to having kicked out and hit a BBC reporter in March, this year.
The incident occurred after a court hearing and, as he came out, Pete climbed a wall to pose for the crowd of reporters and paparazzi that were waiting for him at the gate. As Trudi Barber of Radio 1 Newsbeat stretched out her hand in an attempt to get a statement from the rocker, he kicked out at her, sending the microphone she was holding flying high in the air. He then got up, jumped on the hood of his car, got into it and sped off.
Yesterday, at noon, the rocker changed his plea from not guilty to guilty after seeing that the entire incident had been caught on tape and there was clear evidence that he was responsible for it. Helen Skinner, Justice of Peace, ruled that Doherty must pay 750 in fines, 250 in compensation and another 200 in court fees.
The ruling came after prosecuting attorney said that 'Miss Barber had suffered pain in her hand and shoulder, and had been forced to see her GP because the pain in her shoulder had affected her sleep' and after taking into consideration the behavior Pete displayed on that occasion.
'We have seen footage so we know exactly what happened. People in the public eye have a responsibility to behave and be a good role model to others. To refer to the press as scum [as Doherty said in a later interview] does no one any favors. You were obviously courting publicity judging by your somewhat extravagant behavior outside court', Skinner explained.
Doherty was given seven days to pay the fine, as he only had 27p in cash with him at the court hearing.
