A few days back, a man from Dallas stumbled upon an emaciated dog whose neck was encased in a rusty coffee can.

Those who helped rescue this dog believe that the coffee can somehow got stuck around its neck when the animal was merely a pup.

Thus, as the dog grew older, its neck also gained quite a few inches, and the metal can pushed into its flesh, making it impossible for it to swallow whatever food it happened to find.

“Her body had tried to grow over the can,” a spokesperson for the Animal Allies of Texas told members of the press.

Moreover, the edge of the can injured the dog's ears, one of which was almost completely severed.

Now that the coffee can has been removed, there is hope that Java, as the pooch has been named by its rescuers, will make a full recovery.

However, veterinarians point out that the following days are critical to the dog's survival.
