The odd news section continues on its righteous mission to let you know all about the latest dog news, this time with a report about an event specifically organized for our four-legged friends.

About 40 dogs have got married in the capital city of Peru, Lima, as part of a mass canine wedding ceremony that took place on Saturday.

The adorable dog couples, including several chihuahuas and a shih-tzu, tied the knot during a special wedding service meant to promote pet responsibility among owners, according to Metro.

Dressed in fitted doggy tuxedos with top hats and white wedding gowns with veils, the pooches were accompanied by their owners and walked down the aisle to the wedding march.

The owners of the dogs even received official wedding certificates issued by the district of San Miguel, which were signed by their pets with paw prints when the ceremony ended.

“Now, all that’s left is for the two dogs to be together and that they will live happy forever,” said Miguel Gomez, the owner of one of the newlywed dogs.

Although some people consider this type of events ridiculous, the “woof weddings” are now very fashionable amongst the pet set and might be a good way to get dogs and their owners to socialize.
