On Sunday, a Pit Bull-mix now named Fresno got rescued after somebody decided to abandon it on a highway on Texas.

When animal welfare advocates first spotted Fresno, the latter was chained to a highway guardrail. As noticeable in the picture above, the chain was weighed down by a couple of plates, each weighing about 35 pounds (roughly 15.8 kilograms).

Witnesses reportedly said that the person who abandoned the dog was a Hispanic man between the ages of 30 and 40.

“The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 30’s or 40’s, last seen driving an early model red Dodge Ram extended bed pickup with paper plates.”

“One witness indicates the man put on his hazard lights before pulling over and chaining the pet to the guard rail,” reads a statement issued by the City of San Antonio Animal Care Services.

The pooch appears to be doing just fine, and his rescuers are hopeful that he will soon get a new family.

The police are still trying to identify and locate the man who saw fit to treat him in this manner.
