Rather not

It has been recently reported that some British police departments have taken measures to schedule extra officers on nights with a full moon.

This decision was made not because of werewolves or vampires, but due to a supposed connection between full moon nights and more earthy dirty businesses like increased activity of petty thieves and violent criminals.

Anecdotes among those working as police offices and in emergency services (like doctors and nurses) have been circulating for long, suggesting that night shifts during full moon are busier, crazier, and more dangerous than the darker nights and those one spends with an "earthly" companion.

But many claim that this connection has more roots in psychology than reality, and the moon's action has an important role in many cultures around the world.

If police officers and doctors suggest that full moon nights will be more incendiary, they could perceive ordinary night's traumas, crises and other such events as being more extreme and intense than usual, as it is known that what we expect influences what we see, hear, remember, and we focus on evidence that confirms our thoughts, creating fake or distorted reality.

But detailed scientific approaches found no valid proof supporting this hypothesis.

In 1991, a team made by researchers Ivan Kelly, James Rotton, and Roger Culver, published a study "The Moon was Full and Nothing Happened", reviewing over 100 investigations on the alleged lunar effects and discovered no significant link between the moon phases and disasters, homicide rates and other such events.

Moreover, it has not been discovered yet if the moon could somehow change an individual's brain activity and thus turn him/her more dangerous, if we do not take into consideration cases of persons dealing with their own expectations. Thus, brain activity must be skipped, but some indirect proof of a full moon and criminal activity could be considered.

Statistically, there are slightly more crimes, accidents and injuries on full moon nights because people tend to be more active during full moon nights than during dark moonless nights. Muggers and other criminals manage in an easier way to carry out their sleazes because of the moon's illumination.
