Sad news regarding the condition of 21-year-old Bobbi Kristina Brown, the daughter of the late singer Whitney Houston and ex-husband Bobby Brown: apparently, doctors have informed the family that they can do nothing to save her, so they will now have to decide when to let go.

Bobbi Kristina, or Krissi, was found face-down in the bathtub of her Georgia home over the weekend. It is believed she was deprived of oxygen for 2 to 5 minutes, and the damage to her brain has been considerable because of this.

Bobbi Kristina is beyond saving

“It's now a matter of when the family wants to let go and accept that she's pretty much not going to make it,” a source reveals for Fox News, as cited by TV Guide. “[Doctors] have left it up to the family as to how long they want to keep her alive.”

Since earlier this week, reports have been saying that doctors were cautious in offering any hope to the family as to her odds of recovery. Unnamed sources claimed that, the way things stood right then, a recovery was nothing short of a “miracle.”

The Houston family seemed to say this much when, in a joint statement released to the press, they asked for prayers for Bobbi Kristina, saying she was “fighting for her life.” Her father, Bobby Brown, released a separate statement, and though he didn’t say it with these exact words, this was the message he too conveyed.

At the same time, insiders tipped the media about her condition, saying she was showing “diminished brain activity.”

What happened?

Bobbi Kristina was found by her so-called husband Nick Gordon, who, it turns out, was never legally wed to her despite claims from both to the contrary. He and a male friend told the police they arrived home to see Bobbi Kristina face-down in the water, and they immediately proceeded to perform CPR on her.

Paramedics arrived on the scene, after the 911 drowning call, and managed to revive her; she was put in a medically induced coma immediately after she arrived at the hospital, to allow her vital functions time to go back to normal.

Initial police reports noted that no drugs were found in the house “out in the open,” but a second, more thorough search turned up illegal substances of a yet-to-be-specified nature.

Bobbi Kristina has allegedly been having drug issues since before her mother’s death 3 years ago, in circumstances strangely similar to those of her near-drowning. Photos leaked online showed her smoking a bong and snorting cocaine, and it was said that she was sent to rehab after a couple of drug-related hospitalizations after Whitney’s death.

Officials are yet to say whether she OD’ed or she had some kind of accident and nearly drowned.
