When she was born, on Thanksgiving Day 1970, her hippy parents considered that the best name the baby girl could have was “Happy Thanksgiving” celebrating the special moment she came into the world.

For Doctor Happy Thanksgiving Reynolds, it's a holiday every day, because she hears those wishes on a daily basis and not only on November 28. The family doctor from Minneapolis is more than happy with her special moniker, because it made her stand up in the crowd wherever she went.

It is a memorable name, no one will ever forget visiting Dr. Happy Thanksgiving, and also she got used to it, it's her special thing. “My parents were hippies, but if you wanted to categorize them in hippie-land, they weren't Hollywood drug hippies. They were the move to a small town in Minnesota type, starting a co-op and a small school, and starting the whole organic food movement,” the doctor told GoodMorningAmerica.

The 43-year-old doctor is very proud of her appellative, despite the weirdness and constant questioning related to the choice of the tag. The woman says her name “has been its own intrinsic social networker, which is totally awesome.” Even in the employment field, Reynolds easily got interviews because of employers' curiosity regarding the identifier.

Being a family physician, the title helped her bond with patients, and especially with children, being used as an icebreaker. Dr. Happy Thanksgiving considers her honorific helped her in the career she chose, allowing people to perceive her as being approachable and friendly. Her parents have no regrets when it comes to their daughter's name, they say it makes her special and she seems to enjoy it.

“In an accidental way the name is so out there, it almost allows people to break that layer and say, “I can trust you” and it's lovely,” the Doctor says. Even if most people wouldn't even imagine naming their children in the spirit of the holiday, everything worked for the best in the case of Doctor Happy Thanksgiving Reynolds.
