The making of this movie has been an epic story in itself, worthy of a comic book hero. After roles being passed around from actor to actor, after rumors, denials and confirmations, we finally have a release date for Marvel's biggest project since “The Avengers” – “Doctor Strange.”

We have been closely following the development of the movie and we're finally able to announce that the movie is due out in theaters on July 8, 2016. So far, there is no other movie scheduled to be released in the same weekend, but since it's a summer date, there is bound to be at least one more blockbuster lined up at the same time.

Production for the movie is also scheduled to start at Pinewood Studios in the United Kingdom beginning May 2015. But there is still a long way to go until then, since the project still doesn't have an actor for the main part, that of Doctor Strange himself.

AceShowbiz reports that the movie is going to be directed by Scott Derickson, based on a script by John Spaihts. Several A-list celebrities have been rumored to appear in the title role. Among them Joaquin Phoenix, Robert Downey Jr. and Johnny Depp. So far, no one has stepped up to the plate and the studio is said to still be looking.
