The market research Information Solutions Group conducted a survey concerning the employees who play games at work, revealing that no less than 24 percent of the respondents admitted they played video games during the working day. The research included 2,842 employees and was conducted by PopCap.com, a website which is focused only on gaming content. According to Reuters, 8 percent of the companies' executive also play games at work.

What's more interesting is that 61 percent of the respondents who admitted they play games said they are doing it in lunch breaks while 14 percent said yes when asked if they play during the work time. Although you might think the employees play games for fun, eight out of ten said they're doing this to relax while five out of ten revealed that some games are efficient for their memory.

You might think that it is OK to play games at work, it isn't so because the video games and other types of content, usually accessible using the Internet, are quite damaging for the company's productivity.

Nowadays, the online social networking websites and the video sharing platforms such as YouTube or Metacafe, attract a huge number of visitors every day. That's why a lot of companies took the decision to restrict the access to these websites from the work computers in order to keep the employees focused on their job.

Facebook is just one of the banned websites in a lot of companies because this social networking website lured a lot of consumers from all over the world. Even the software companies which develop applications tried to adapt their business on this requirement. Numerous developers already started developing software solutions able to restrict the access of an entire network of computers to a certain webpage or service such as an online video sharing platform.
