Drivers using mobile phones risk lifetime in prison.

I know that sounds kind of rough but don't get frightened so fast and throw your phone in the dumpster because it may not apply to you. The ones that can be affected by this new law are the citizens of the United Kingdom and the ones that have a driving license. Please note these two conditions go hand in hand, so if you do have a driver's license but you don't actually live in UK you are, as the baseball referees say, SAFE!

The one behind this idea and the initiator of this project is the head of UK's Crown Prosecution Service, Ken MacDonald, who intends to change the present law saying the motorists using cellphones can be accused of reckless driving because this sentence only brings along a penalty of up to 1500 Euros, which in MacDonald's opinion is too little for the actual consequences.

If MacDonald's motion will get the nod of the general public the drivers talking on mobile phones while driving might get another type of sentence, that of "dangerous driving", and in this case they directly face up to 2 year to be spent in jail. Furthermore, if the police can prove this type of behavior has resulted in a fatal crash they face a whopping 14-years sentence or even a life conviction behind bars. That is just mind blowing isn't it?

As Kate Brown, Dorset's Chief Crown Prosecutor, has declared "talking on your mobile phone and applying make-up while driving are just a couple of examples of bad driving currently regarded as careless driving, for which culprits cannot be jailed. We are seeking the public's views as to whether these types of bad driving should be considered as dangerous driving, which would mean that offenders could face two years in jail or 14 years to life if their bad driving resulted in a fatality."

Do you still want to try your luck and give a call while behind the wheel? Let me remind you, once again, that if you life in the UK you might very soon move from behind that round shaped thing letting you control the way your car goes. Where are you gonna go? In jail and if the police finds out you've been talking on your cellphone before a fatal accident you were involved in happened, you can stay behind bars your entire life.

In conclusion, I think it's safer to pull over for a few minutes and finish your conversation, instead of being afraid to pick up the soap you dropped in the prison's showers! All your life! Think about it!
