Scientists today have an all-new way of staying up to speed on gene research thanks to the introduction of Gene News, a mobile application by Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. Both iOS and Android customers can download the free app immediately.
The Gene News app aims to deliver valuable information in this particular field via an easy-to-read format and enables researchers to get the latest news with customizable search inquiries.
The Thermo Scientific Gene News App allows scientists to monitor articles and news related to their specific areas of interest. Researchers can customize and bookmark search inquiries, as well as personalize their user preferences.
Users can sort searches by publication date, journal title, author and/or publication impact, and search by keyword and preferred journals.
The app promises to always provide access up-to-date gene research, and it even offers offline reading functions.
Users can also share articles with friends and colleagues via email or social networks, including Facebook and Twitter.
Jeff Lee, commercial director for immunoassay products, Thermo Fisher Scientific, said that “More than ever, students, scientists and researchers are turning to smartphones to search for the latest research data.”
“The Thermo Scientific Gene News App makes it even easier and more convenient to access information that is relevant to their work,” added Lee.
“Researchers have the freedom to search an area of interest down to a specific gene or protein. The easy-to-use interface and the ability to share the content through email or social media ensure the app is a powerful tool in the laboratory,” he concluded.
The new Gene News app is completely free of charge and works with all iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad models that run iOS 4.0 or later. Interested parties can download it on Apple’s App Store via the link below. An Android version is also available through Google Play.
