Capcom has just confirmed that its upcoming DmC Devil May Cry hack and slash title will star not only Dante but also his brother, Vergil, who’ll help the protagonist during the story. What’s more, new details, screenshots, and a special trailer have just been revealed ahead of their presentation at Gamescom 2012 tomorrow.

DmC Devil May Cry was initially met with hostility from fans who disapproved of Dante’s new looks and of developer Ninja Theory.

After unveiling many videos, screenshots, and details, plenty of fans have begun to look forward to the new hack and slash experience that’s going to be released in January.

Now, as part of its pre-Gamescom 2012 press conference, Capcom has revealed a wide array of new things about DmC Devil May Cry, ranging from the fact that Vergil, Dante’s brother, will be present in the story, to new images and a video from the game.

You can check out the first details about this new version of Vergil below.

Vergil is Dante’s twin brother. While Dante was put into an orphanage run by demons and ended up a street kid, Vergil was adopted into a rich, educated and very privileged home. A highly intelligent and gifted individual, he wrote a security encryption program that eventually made him a multi-millionaire before he even finished school.

Vergil hates the demons for having killed his mother and enslaved his father and uses his riches in the single minded pursuit to bring them down. Calculating and dispassionate, Vergil’s decisions are always logical, strategic and never emotional. He formed the underground organization known as The Order to research the demons with the goal of toppling their hold over humanity.

Thanks to his twin brother Vergil, leader of the anti-establishment group called “The Order”, Dante is now discovering and coming to terms with what it means to be the child of a demon and an angel. This split personality has a real impact on gameplay with Dante being able to call upon angel and demon abilities at will, transforming his Rebellion sword on the fly to dramatically affect both combat and movement. Besides the reveal of Vergil, plenty of screenshots and a video have also been showcased by Capcom, so check them out below. DmC Devil May Cry is out on PS3 and Xbox 360 on January 15, 2013. A PC release is also scheduled later in the year.
