Many gamers are complaining that the screenshots don't show any improvement in graphics over the PS3 version

Ninja Theory has revealed that DmC Definitive Edition will be released a week earlier than expected, on March 10, 2015.

The news comes from a message posted on the developer's official Twitter account, delivering the new date on which the action-adventure hack-and-slash video game will land on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 computer entertainment systems.

Developer Ninja Theory and publisher Capcom have also released a number of new screenshots, showing off the snazzy graphics of their new creation running on current-generation consoles.

Many gamers have been disappointed by the images, claiming that DmC Definitive Edition is just a straight-up port of the original game, simply boosted to 1080p, without changing the visuals, and without tapping into the new consoles' full potential.

You can find the screenshots in the gallery below and see for yourself whether the company upped the graphics in any way or whether DmC Definitive Edition still looks like a PS3 game.

What's new

Devil May Cry Definitive Edition was announced last month, touted to deliver numerous improvements to both gameplay systems and a visual overhaul. The game will run in 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second, and is bundled with all the DLC released so far.

Furthermore, the list of additions includes a new Bloody Palace mode for Vergil, boosted Turbo Mode, Hardcore Mode, an enhanced difficulty level (Gods Must Die), Must Style mode, and updated Trophies and Achievements.

Hardcore mode and Vergil's Bloody Palace will also come with their own new leaderboards, so players can test their skills against each other.

Ninja Theory is currently working on a brand new video game titled Hellblade, set to come to the PlayStation 4 home console and to PC. The game is based on Celtic mythology and features sword-oriented combat and high production values, the equivalent of an AAA indie title.
