You might have seen “Django Unchained” in cinemas and fell in love with the character, but the truth is that Django is not an original Quentin Tarantino creation. Though the movie made by the “Pulp Fiction” director went on to win two Oscars, Django's story begins much earlier.

A new “Django” film just started the production process and will see the return of the legendary Franco Nero as the gun-slinging cowboy. It's been nearly 50 years since he played the part in the original movie released in Italy in 1966.

During that time, nearly 30 movies were made in the franchise with other actors playing Django, but now Franco Nero is ready to return for what he called “the final chapter in the Django story.”

The movie will be directed by Joe D'Augustine, a frequent collaborator of Quentin Tarantino. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the plot line sees the film set in 1915, when an old Django now acts as a consultant for silent film producers and gets involved with racketeers.
