Divinity: Original Sin, a masterfully executed true RPG game developed by Larian Studios, might be getting a Linux version before the end of the year.

Divinity: Original Sin is regarded as one of the best RPG games launched in the past couple of years, so it's no surprise that Linux users have been wondering when they'll get a port. It seems that their wish will be granted. The information was published on Twitter by Swen Vincke, the founder of Larian Studios.

"It should be this year still - it's done by same team that does the Mac version & they just finished the App Store version," says Swen Vincke.

Given the fact that the Linux and Mac OS X platforms are not all that different, it's quite possible that we'll get to see the port on Steam for Linux pretty soon.

"Gather your party and get ready for a new, back-to-the-roots RPG adventure! Discuss your decisions with companions; fight foes in turn-based combat; explore an open world and interact with everything and everyone you see. Join up with a friend to play online in co-op and make your own adventures with the powerful RPG toolkit," reads the official synopsis on Steam.

The game has been out for Windows for a while and we already have a review for that platform, if you want to take look. We'll keep you apprised with any news on the Linux launch for Divinity: Original Sin.
