Album launch party ran late by 4 hours, all chaos broke loose

Mariah Carey is a total diva and she’s proud to acknowledge that whenever the opportunity arises. The other day, the singer was scheduled to appear at the World Music Awards 2014 held in Monte Carlo, but she arrived late because her album launch party was delayed by 4 whole hours.

In Mariah’s defense, she might not have caused the delay: in fact, no one knows what caused it. Either way, even if she had been responsible for all the “chaos” her very late arrival caused, organizers of the music event didn’t really mind it, The Mirror writes.

We assume they knew divas can’t always keep to a schedule when they mailed her invite.

The British tab says that Mariah scheduled the album release party to take place right before the World Music Awards but, for some reason, it was delayed by 4 hours. Because canceling it was entirely out of the question, Mariah’s entire schedule was disrupted.

“The whole event has been delayed. It's not great,” a World Music Awards organizer is quoted as saying. “We don't know why Mariah is late, she's just being Mariah.”

On the bright side, according to other reports, when Mariah did arrive, she more than made up for the delay: she performed and came up on stage to accept her award, managing to squeeze in no less than 2 outfit changes, each outfit more glamorous than the other.

Here she is pictured above as she strutted on stage to accept her award, looking positively dazzling in a sparkly silver number with diamantes placed in all the right places to safeguard her modesty.

Besides her World Music Awards win, Mariah has plenty of other things to celebrate these days, including the release of her newest album, her 14th to date. Called “Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse” (told you she was 100 percent diva!), it’s been getting plenty of buzz online for several weeks now – and not just because of the divalicious name.

When she announced the estimated release date, she also hinted that she planned a Beyonce-type of release (though clearly she didn’t name her by name), in which all material from the album (singles, artwork, music videos, the works) would be coming out at the same time online, one week ahead of the physical release in brick-and-mortar stores.

Her record label denied this, saying the release would be a “traditional” one. From the looks of things, it seems that they were right.
