Dressed in intricate Mr. Pearl corset

Burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese is no stranger to the fashion world and haute couture in particular, so having esteemed designer Jean-Paul Gaultier choose her as the model to close his latest show should not come as much of a surprise. Dressed in a saucy cut-out dress that hid a black Mr. Pearl corset, Dita was the icing on the cake, as Contact Music can confirm.

The entire collection from fashion’s wild child highlighted sensuality, with countless designs coming in black and, most of them, as little material as possible. However, it wasn’t until Dita stepped on stage that it became clear that the line was meant to bring out the femme fatale in all women out there, as the burlesque dancer slowly advanced on the runway, slowly taking off her dress. Underneath it was a very odd-looking corset that emphasized her enviable silhouette and her renowned wasp waist.

“Jean Paul Gaultier invited Dita Von Teese as a surprise guest at his couture show in Paris yesterday (08.06.10), with the dancer seen in a barely-there outfit. The burlesque dancer – famed for her bright red lips and alabaster complexion – took to the catwalk in a racy ribbed number, cinching in her tiny waist and leaving little to the imagination,” Contact Music says. Gaultier himself described the collection a tribute to the “bones,” the architecture on which garments are built.

“The show was an unashamed tribute to glamour, with models holding cigarettes in cigarette holders and donning turbans while wearing beautiful creations in a myriad of dark shades, although black was the dominating force in the collection. Actress Catherine Deneuve watched from the front row as reams of fur-trimmed opulent pieces created by Gaultier made their way down the runway. […] Valentino also put on a chic display of mini-dresses in his couture collection, with bow detailing and short hemlines making the otherwise safe collection have a feeling of opulence and glamour,” the same e-zine says.

As it turns out, it wasn’t just audiences that were stunned by Dita’s appearance on the catwalk, since the dancer herself could barely come to terms with it afterwards. The show was truly an “haute couture moment,” Dita wrote on her Twitter after it was over, and she enjoyed every second of it.
