Dita Spreads Them in 'Penthouse'

While Marilyn has his own ways of letting the world into the drama that has been his life in the past year, all culminating with the highly mediated divorce from the burlesque dancer Dita von Teese – a brand new album, his soon to be former wife has also found the means to express herself. You see, nothing says better 'Screw you!' than a naked photo shoot and, obviously, I'm not the only who thinks of all this in these terms.

You know that everybody loves Dita, especially for the way she rides that lipstick and bathes herself in the cocktail glass. Apparently, the soft porn mag 'Penthouse' feels the same towards the raven-haired dancer and that is why they put together a new spread for their April issue. True, the photo shoot is not new – far from it, since it dates from before she and Marilyn got married – but, still, it should not get by your sharp eye.

Dita is featured on the cover of the men's magazine in one of her trademark corsets, a green one. Also, if you happen to get your hands on one of the copies of the mag (I hear they are really hard to find, for some reason or another), you should definitely open it and scan it until you get to Dita's spread because the promise from the cover is about to be met: she does open that corset and even more. OK, I'll just stop beating around the bush and come straight with it: she's pictured fully naked and with everything in sight. Not that it comes as a complete shock...

One of the highlights of the spread is a quote from none other than Scarlett Johansson who says that she really looks up to Dita, whom she considers a true source of inspiration. 'I think she's incredibly beautiful, really talented. It's amazing the way she transforms herself. It's a creation all its own. I think it's unbelievably stimulating. That kind of visual, that fetish imagery tastefully done is so erotic.', Scarlett says of the woman she drew inspiration from in what concerns her image and her dance routine with the Pussycat Dolls in 2004.

Let's get one thing clear: sure, Dita is beautiful and really good at what she's doing. Does that make her talented? Not unless talent means that capacity to transform yourself into something that you're not and that makes the public simply adore you. Instead of putting her on a pedestal for something that she doesn't deserve (after all, her claim to fame is almost entirely due to Marilyn), we should simply be happy and grateful that all this frenzy around her hasn't made her too prudish to pose naked.
