That's assuming sales happen as expected in preparation for a certain holiday

Normally, a single country's holiday would not be expected to impact the global market all that much, but China is a really big country, with the highest population in the world.

As such, that October 1 will mark the start of a holiday period means that people will buy lots of things before and during that month.

Consequently, all companies with product channels in the area have to prepare more products than usual.

That, obviously, goes for displays as much as for everything else.

Case in point, the panel industry is expected to rebound in August, after current slowdown.

High-end smartphones haven't been selling as well as before, and other handsets have been doing just as poorly.

Well, not poorly exactly, since no known company collapsed financially like a washed-up whale recently, but the point stands.
