The Surface Pro 3 is Microsoft’s largest tablet ever, featuring a 12-inch screen which helps it turn into a full-featured laptop with ease.

Now the experts at DisplayMate claim that the Surface Pro 3 screen is really a very advanced piece of hardware featuring the most accurate colors on the market.

In an in-depth analysis that was recently published on their official website and highlighted by Microsoft, DisplayMate says that the Surface Pro 3 has one of the best displays on the market, competing with and even beating many other similar devices out there, including the iPad Air and the Galaxy Tab S.

“Microsoft has produced an excellent professional grade high performance display for Windows. In fact, the Surface Pro 3 has one of the very best and most accurate displays available on any mobile platform and OS. It joins near the top of a small set of Tablets that have excellent Top Tier displays – ideal for professionals that need a very accurate high performance display for their work, and for consumers that want and appreciate a really nice and beautiful display,” DisplayMate points out.

The company says that the Surface Pro 3 screen is larger than the displays available on other devices out there, so it’s only natural to expect a somewhat higher peak brightness over its rivals.

“Since the Surface Pro 3 is larger it is less likely to be opened outdoors in unshielded high ambient light environments like Smartphones and smaller Tablets, its somewhat lower (but still Very Good) Peak Brightness of 371 cd/m2 (nits) should not be an issue for most users and applications. With its adjustable kickstand, the angle of the display can be adjusted in the same way as a Laptop, an important viewing and working advantage,” DisplayMate writes.

Overall, the Surface Pro 3 has the most accurate colors of all tablets currently available to buyers, which is quite important given the fact that most people are using their tablets to watch videos, view photos, and edit documents.

“What is really impressive is that we are continuing to see visually significant improvements in display performance in periods of under one year. With display technology advancing rapidly on many different fronts this is likely to continue and even accelerate in the near future as the result of multiple improvements that are combined to work together, so expect many more major display improvements in the near future,” DisplayMate points out.

Of course, Microsoft is pleased with such news, especially because the company is struggling to boost sales of its device and attract more customers to its hardware lineup.

The Surface Pro 3, however, is quite an expensive device, and this is one of the main drawbacks right now, as the top-of-the-range model can be yours for approximately $2,000 (€1,500).
