A small blast at the Disneyland amusement park in Anaheim, California prompted a police intervention followed by a two-hour evacuation.

The explosion startled visitors, many of whom had brought their children to the park, on Tuesday, May 28.

"You wouldn't expect situations like that coming to a place like this. That is crazy, that's wild. [...] It reminds us we all need to do our part to be safe," visitor Jonathan Rosario tells LA Times.

Rosario, of West Covina, had brought a toddler to Toontown and was enjoying her day when the small explosive device blasted off.

At 5:30 p.m., a plastic bottle with dry ice inside was put inside a container in Toontown, setting off a blast.

"All of a sudden you hear this huge pop and you see some stuff out of the trash can," witness Treyson Brown details for CBS News.

"Just a big boom and the trash can exploding…the lid coming up…people were at a standstill. [...] It was kind of a little scary when I saw the whole area (look like a) ghost town," adds Vanessa Vasquez.

According to the Anaheim Police Department, visitors were not at risk and the effects of the explosion were minor.

"Unfortunately, it's an all-too-common occurrence," Sgt. Bob Dunn of the local PD explains.

Mickey’s Toontown was closed off "in an abundance of caution" as nobody was injured during the small blast.

This type of explosive device has been spotted in the Anaheim area on several occasions in the past few months, and a bomb squad was dispatched by the Orange County Sheriff's Department to further investigate the incident.

"I wish there were a way to control stuff like that. [...] When you have kids you want it to always be safe," Cristina Garcia of Napa comments.
