Last week's U.S. Box office was ruled by Disney's latest movie "Eight Below". The movie made $25 m, while the second and third productions from the chart made only $22.3 m (Date Movie) and $21 m (The Pink Panther).
The story of an expedition guide to Antarctica and his eight sledge dogs that face a terrible storm as they transport a geologist to one very remote area is packed with positive messages about friendship and survival.
Paul Walker (formally seen in the Fast and Furious movies and Into the Blue) plays the guide and Bruce Greenwood (who also stared in I,Robot, Below and The Core) plays the geologist.
Surprisingly enough, they get out of the picture as due to tremendous difficulties, they leave the camp and leave the dogs (who are the real stars of the movie) behind.
The main events of the movie are related to the dog's strife for staying alive in the middle of the Arctic storm without any food.
The cast also includes American Pie star Jason Biggs (as Paul Walker's friend).
Director Frank Marshall had previous snow-movie experience, as he directed 1993's Alive real facts inspired drama about the survivors of a place crash who struggle for survival in the Andes.
Marshall is also one reputed producer, linked to movies such as The Sixth Sense, Seabiscuit and Congo.
