Walt Disney Feature Animation will give traditional and pioneering 2-D animation another try, despite the box-office flop registered with the 2002 'Treasure Island', cashing in only $38 million domestically.
Another disappointment immediately followed in 2003, although it wasn't as big as the first one, with the release of 'Home on the Range' animated movie. It was the last picture created in 2-D Disney made until now.
'Variety' reports that the company is now trying to draw back the fans they lost to the innovative computer animation by Pixar Animation Studios (owned also by Disney) with the making of 'The Frig Princess'.
For the female spin to the classic fairy tale, the company has already contacted veterans John Musker and Ron Clements, who left the studio after the 'Treasure Island' failure. They were called back to oversee the project, mainly because their credits include such hits as 'The Little Mermaid', 'Alladin' and 'Hercules'.
The music for the new animated movie will be written by one of Disney's long time composers, Alan Menken. No information has been released yet related to the beginning date of the project or to when we'll be able to see it in theaters.
