When Angelina Jolie was announced for the role of Maleficent in Disney’s same-titled live feature film, the industry reacted by saying something along the lines of “no one better could have been cast.” Above is the first official poster for the film, coming to confirm she was the perfect choice.

“Maleficent” tells the story of Sleeping Beauty through Maleficent’s eyes, and will be out in theaters in May 2014.

It also stars Juno Temple, Elle Fanning and Sharlto Copley, and is directed by Robert Stromberg. Angelina even got Vivienne, her daughter, a small part in the film, to help her make her movie debut.

According to reports, Vivienne was paid $3,000 (€2,230) a week for the role. Even though these rumors were never confirmed, some balked at the huge amount Vivienne allegedly made, calling it nepotism at its best.

All idle talk aside, Angelina looks stunning in the first official poster. If her Maleficent is even remotely close to Charlize Theron’s Evil Queen in “Snow White and the Huntsman,” it’ll be a treat for the eyes.
