Disney is one of the companies that have until now brought quite a lot of high-quality games on Windows 8.1, no matter if we're talking about desktop computers or tablets, so it's no surprise to see another exciting title being released for those who have already made the move to Microsoft's new OS version.

This time however, Disney launched a remake of the popular Sega Genesis classic called “Castle of Illusion,” which can be played on both desktop computers and tablets running Windows 8.1. Full touch-support is being offered, so if you're planning to install it on a Surface, everything should run smoothly.

The game, which comes with HD graphics and an awesome soundtrack, puts you in the shoes of Mickey Mouse, the famous Disney star that now has to fight to save Minnie by completing a number of challenges in the Castle of Illusions.

“Mickey Mouse returns to star in Castle of Illusion, a fantastical reimagining of the Sega Genesis classic. When the evil witch Mizrabel kidnaps Minnie, it’s up to Mickey to brave the dangers of the Castle of Illusions to rescue Minnie. Gather your courage and traverse enchanted forests, take on hordes of rebellious toys and navigate mazes of living books. Play as Mickey and save Minnie from Mizrabel’s evil clutches!” the game description reads.

Microsoft has also provided a few more details on the game:

“Mickey must travel through enchanted forests, take on armies of rebellious toys and navigate mazes of living books – all in search of his captive sweetheart. There are five magical worlds filled with Mizrabel’s powerful minions, twists and turns, and hidden challenges to uncover and master.”

The so-called Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse boasts five different worlds and plenty of hidden challenges, according to the information posted on the store.

Probably the only major drawback of this game is the hefty price, which might set you back $14.99 (€11) for the Windows 8.1 version. It comes in the store as a universal app, which means that you can also play it on the Windows Phone, which the smartphone version currently priced at only $9.99 (€7.3).

Overall, there is no doubt that this is quite a great addition to the store, so if you're in the market looking for some high-quality games for Windows 8.1, make sure that you download Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse to see what it's up to and experience a Sega Genesis classic on a modern computer.
