The development team working on Disney Infinity is getting ready to reveal new The Avengers content for the video game before the end of this month, with all the characters associated with the superhero franchise set to be offered to players in the coming months.

Polygon reports that it has received an official invitation to an event that will show off the latest chapter to be added to the new Disney franchise.

It's still unclear whether the company plans to add characters to the already existing framework or if it will launch a separate game that features the cast of The Avengers and possibly other heroes and villains taken from the extensive Marvel comic book universe.

A brief video teaser for the coming content was offered in March, but it did not give fans of the Disney Infinity experience any more details about the long-term plans for the concept.

The game has been wildly successful since it was launched and the introduction of Marvel character would make it an even tougher competitor for Skylanders, the equivalent franchise from Activision.

Rumors have also suggested that Disney was interested in integrating Star Wars characters in Disney Infinity, but so far, no such addition was teased.
