Disney Infinity is gearing up for a rather busy autumn as the development team in charge of the mix of toys and virtual experiences announces that it plans to soon add three new major characters, designed to appeal to the dark side of the player community.

Fans will be able to get their hands on Loki, the God of Mishief as he has been portrayed in the recent Avengers movie, Ronan the Accuser, the leading villain from the now launched Guardians of the Galaxy film, and finally, the Green Goblin from the Spider Man franchise.

Disney says that the three supervillains are powerful characters that can be used inside their own playset, in the updated Toy Box 2.0 and in the new Toy Box Game mode, which offers a more structured experience.

Infinity allows players to collect figurines based on the characters of the movies created by Disney, but also on the various protagonists from Marvel.

In the future, the game will probably also get characters based on the Star Wars franchise, although no official announcement has yet been made.

Disney Infinity faces tough competition from the Skylanders series from Activision, which is set to get its own line of new characters in the coming months.
