Disney Interactive has confirmed the release of Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes on Tuesday, September 23, in North America.

The action-adventure sandbox video game is the sequel to the franchise-establishing hit of last year, and will expand the platform with the introduction of new playsets and characters that players can make use of.

The Toy Box mode will also make a return, with some enhanced features that users can use to create their own custom adventures and then share them online with friends.

The company has also announced that pre-orders for the game are open, and that, starting today through September 22, gamers can get a special Disney Infinity 2.0 Marvel figure as a pre-order bonus for the Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes Starter Pack.

Disney has also confirmed that all characters and power discs released for last year's release of Disney Infinity will be compatible with the Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes Toy Box, to use in custom content.

The game is available for a hands-on demonstration at both Disney's as well as Marvel's booths, on location at the San Diego Comic-Con inside the San Diego Convention Center.

Avalanche Software's Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes will become available for the iOS, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One platforms on September 23, 2014. The title will also land on the PlayStation Vita handheld, sometime in 2015.
