The team at Disney working on the next version of the figurine-based Infinity game has been very careful to avoid any leaks about the coming characters and mechanics, but it seems that gamers will be able to play using at least two major characters from the Star Wars franchise.

A leak on an official store page shows that both Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka will be included in the official line-up, although they might not be part of a new starter package.

Disney has not offered any official comment on the images, but the company has previously moved fast to stop any sort of information about the future of the Infinity franchise.

The look of both the included Star Wars figurines is based on the way the characters are depicted in the animated series rather than the movies, and the attached art also suggests that other important figures from the series will be included.

Anakin Skywalker will probably be shown in his most glorious incarnation, before he chooses the dark path that will lead him to become Darth Vader.

So far, it is unclear whether there are plans to also offer Star Wars figurines that belong to the Empire or the Sith.

Ahsoka is a Togruta female and the apprentice of Anakin, and her character has become very popular after her appearance in the Clone Wars series.

Disney Infinity needs to profit from the launch of The Force Awakens

The company currently owns Lucasarts and is investing a lot of money in the new Star Wars trilogy and the associated merchandise, so it makes sense to introduce characters linked to it to one of its major video game brands.

Presumably, the Disney Infinity 3.0 launch will take place at some point in the fall.

The game will have to come up with some cool new characters and mechanics to face the launch of the new LEGO Dimensions and the almost inevitable introduction of a new version of Skylanders.

Fans of Star Wars will also be able to play the new Battlefront title this fall, created by DICE and published by Electronic Arts.

A new video game linked to the series is at the moment also in development at BioWare, although no information about its story has been offered so far.
