Developer Harmonix has announced that Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved is looking to bring its magical sound sorcery to the Xbox One and Xbox 360 platforms on October 21.

The upcoming title is a motion-controlled music rhythm game that is meant to be the interactive successor to the 1940 animated film Fantasia, by Walt Disney. The narrative segments reference the 1940 film directly, as the player takes on the role of a sorcerer's apprentice, tasked with animating the world that his master has created.

Players will make initially desolate environments come to life by moving in rhythm with various licensed music tracks, unlocking gestures that can change the musical composition and gaining the power to transform what their in-game avatar touches.

Rock Band creator Harmonix has attempted to explore the vivid imagery of Disney's symphonic scores, by adding a modern spin and the presence of a conductor's steady arm firmly planted in front of the Kinect sensor.

Harmonix has not only announced the launch date of its upcoming game, but has also released a new trailer showing why people should be excited, showcasing one of Fantasia's hub environments, through which players can discover new songs and bring them into the magical world of waving your hands to the music.

"The Neighborhood" offers a surreal trip through 1980s New York city, showing a pastel skyline looming over the iconic skyscrapers, a thoroughly urban area that contains the six newly announced songs for the title.

As players explore the city and complete various licensed songs such as The Who's The Real Me, The Police's Message in a Bottle, Depeche Mode's Enjoy the Silence, Drake's Take Care, Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker Medley and MIA's Galang, they will see graffiti-spawned creatures and billboards come to life before their very eyes.

Nothing can stop the power of dancing, as the video clearly shows that with enough determination, and knowing where to look, you can even teach some vegetables how to be street performers and earn some cred.

Performing the songs brings various musical elements back into the area, the video showcasing the unconventional gameplay mechanics, as the player is shown releasing some balloons that cause an elephant to grab one and then float through the level.

The video also shows a bit of multiplayer action from the upcoming Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved.

Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved is coming out for Microsoft's current-gen console, the Xbox 360, and the Xbox One next-gen home entertainment system, expected to arrive on October 21, showing the world that innovation and cardiovascular health go hand in hand.
