The Walt Disney Company, which has a division dedicated to video game development in Disney Interactive, has now acquired control over UTV, a company based in India which itself holds control over UTV Ignition, the publisher of titles like Deadly Premonition and El Shaddai.

Reports are mentioning that UTV will be delisted and integrated, although it’s not clear how the publishing structure will be merged into the Disney Interactive organization.

UTV Ignition struggled in 2011 despite the critical success of El Shaddai: Rise of the Metatron and closed down a number of studios while also limiting its distribution network.

Disney Interactive also said that it would move only towards delivering gaming experiences via digital distribution and will use licensed properties to reach a wide audience.

Disney has acquired the comic book creator Marvel and is now working with Gazillion in order to create a superhero-powered MMO using all the familiar heroes.
