DiskLibrary, a media cataloging application for Mac OS X, has reached version 1.8.1, adding improved support for importing DiskTracker export files, but also support for Flash video (.flv) files. A demo version of the software is available for download. The full version of DiskLibrary costs $39.

"Ever needed to find a file you knew you had stored on some CD-ROM, somewhere? Or maybe you have discs full of images and need to find a particular one? Perhaps you want to search for metadata stored in images, movies or PDF documents? If so, then DiskLibrary is what you are looking for," says Obvious Matter, the developer of DiskLibrary.

Basically, DiskLibrary helps users manage volumes or optical media discs to keep better track of them. While most similar products have a UI clogged up with windows, DiskLibrary uses just one window to display all the information the user needs. Using the software, you can create thumbnails for your media files. Most popular image and movie formats are supported (including leading RAW, EPS and Photoshop formats). You can catalog the album art stored inside your MP3 or AAC files, or view the title page of your PDF files as a thumbnail, all using DiskLibrary.

Searching can be done in all catalogs for files based on file name, date, category, metadata, size, and more, while importing third-party catalogs is also possible, from CDFinder, DiskTracker, FileFinder and WhereIsIt for Windows export files. Lastly, as any Mac OS X app, DiskLibrary offers drag-and-drop functionality.

Currently at version 1.8.1, DiskLibrary now offers improved support for importing DiskTracker export files, as well as support for Flash video (.flv) files. A crash when deleting a catalog and an issue with cataloging certain UDF discs have also been dealt with in this release. Other minor issues have been dealt with as well, according to Obvious Matter.

DiskLibrary is available HERE. The software requires Mac OS X 10.4.6+ or Mac OS X 10.5.2+ and is a Universal Binary, good for Intel and PPC processors alike.
