Dishonored is one of the most intriguing video game projects to be announced in the last few months, with Bethesda Softworks working as publisher and Arkane Studios being named as the developer, and those who had their interest piqued by the initial announcement of the game can now learn a little more about it.

In Dishonored, players will be Corvo, who is one of the legendary bodyguards of an unnamed Empress.

In a twist that is pretty standard for the video game world, this potentially heroic character is falsely imprisoned under the charge of murder as a Lord Regent that the developers are describing as corrupt is preparing a coup d'etat.

It seems that Corvo has a reputation not only for the fighting prowess he has exhibited while being a bodyguard, but also for the combination of supernatural powers that he can call upon and his use of gadgets.

One of the main gameplay mechanics of Dishonored will be a system that allows the player to mix his powers, which might be supernatural or gadget based, in order to create a unique solution that is suited for every situation he is in.

The developers are also saying that the game world will react in a dynamic manner to everything that the player does, meaning that two players with different abilities and play styles will play wildly different versions of the same level.

Dishonored will have a chaos meter that tracks how the player progresses in the game and changes details of the game accordingly.

The details seem very much in line with the video game concepts close to the heart of the main two developers of Dishonored: Harvey Smith, who is one of the original developer of Deus Ex, and Raf Colantonio, who has created Arx Fatalis and Dark Messiah of Might & Magic.

Dishonored does not yet have a launch window and its not clear what platforms it might appear on.
