The city is beautifully designed and well structured

Dishonored stands out in a variety of ways, from the impressive stealth mechanics, to the A.I., which seems to be a bit too smart sometimes and a bit too dumb in other situations.

Another one of the defining aspects of the game is the actual city of Dunwall, where the action takes place, as its design, which combines Victorian looks with steampunk technology, makes it an extremely memorable location.

Dunwall is based on London, as it’s near a river and, just like the English city, it’s filled with all sorts of different architectural monuments, from the palace of the Empress, to swanky buildings, like the Golden Cat Bathhouse, to rundown buildings, like those in the Distillery district.

What’s really impressive, however, is the level design. While at first glance you may see a city just like many other virtual ones, once you start developing your skills, you’ll soon notice passages or pipes on which you can Blink (aka teleport) as well as subterranean sewers or passageways that avoid security checkpoints and Walls of Light.

You also start noticing small rooms and buildings, which you can explore, as well as different hidden locations, which you can get to by using your acrobatic as well as your supernatural skills.

Speaking of your abilities, pretty much all of them help while exploring the city. From the aforementioned Blink, which allows you to teleport to different locations (tip: upgrade this ability as soon as possible), to Dark Vision, which makes you see through walls and, when upgraded, see valuable objects.

The Possession ability is also quite useful, as you can take control of rats or even humans and enter areas that you can’t access normally. This proves especially useful when hunting down runes to upgrade your powers or bone charms that provide passive bonuses.

What do you think of Dunwall? Is the city both beautifully designed and well structured or have you gotten tired of it?
