Shogo Kozakai, who is a producer currently working on Disgaea Dimension 2, reveals that a separate team at Nippon Ichi Software is already working on a full on sequel for the long-running series called Disgaea 5, which is well in the pre-production process.

[ADMARk=1]Gematsu, a site specializing in Japanese gaming news, translates a statements that the developer has made to Dengeki, assuring all fans that both of the games are getting all the resources they need from the company and that more details will be offered soon.

Shogo Kozakai has not offered any sort of information on what Disgaea 5 will offer in terms of story or of gameplay.

Dimensions 2 is a game that actually expands on the good ending of the first game in the series and then creates a new story around it, with protagonist Laharl joined by already familiar characters like Etna and Flonne.

A number of other NPCs will also make a return and the development team at Nippon Ichi Software has already revealed that it will offer mechanics similar to those seen in Disgaea: Hour of Darkness and Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten, but with changes to the balance that make the experience closer to that seen in the original game.

Hints from the team also led the fan base to believe that monster mounts might be included.

Disgaea Dimension 2 was first officially confirmed last week and has until now been worked on under the name Project D and will be launched on the PlayStation 3 from Sony during March of 2013.

Disgaea 5 has been surrounded by rumors for a long time and the announcement that the game is actually in development might lead to a frenzy of new speculation in the fan community.

The franchise includes a number of tactical role-playing game that first appeared in 2003.
