Complementing Atari’s Greatest Hits iPad app, the people at Discovery Bay Games have launched the the Atari Arcade, a gaming accessory designed specifically for the retro gamer who just so happens to also own an iPad.

The Atari Arcade
is powered by Duo from Discovery Bay Games. It joins a growing line of "app-based accessories" that have been designed specifically for Apple’s iPad.

The hardware boasts an analog joystick and four control buttons for an appealing retro design, but also for enhanced playability of the "Atari's Greatest Hits" app.

According to its makers, the software has racked up some three million downloads to date.

The Atari Arcade will be available through Apple Stores and Toys R Us starting November 1, 2011. However, American retailer Target is already carrying the product. It sells for $59.99 (about 45€).
