In preparation for the DVD release of one of the most successful films of the last year, the vampire-filled “Twilight,” director Catherine Hardwicke will publish a book that will take the many fans of the franchise right behind the scenes to the making of the movie. “Twilight: Director’s Notebook” will drop on March 17, the publishing house handling the book has announced.

Hardwicke, although currently no longer connected with the “Twilight” franchise – “New Moon” will see Chris Weitz at the helm – is still a part of the project. This is exactly what has prompted her to write the book, which, according to the official announcement, will try to replicate the actual personal book she kept while working on the film. Consequently, “Director’s Notebook” will include several interesting details, but also sketches and pictures, it has been revealed.

Among the aspects that Hardwicke dwells on in “Director’s Notebook,” fans will find particulars about shooting locations, casting, wardrobe, but also insight into which have been her favorite scenes. These, along with the storyboard sketches and the pictures, should be welcomed with great joy by the fans of the franchise, the publishing house believes. Initially, “Twilight: Director’s Notebook” will be released in 500,000 copies in its first print.

“New Moon,” the follow-up to “Twilight,” will have Weitz as director, while also marking the reunion of the cast. Moreover, other characters will be introduced, one of them being the angelic-looking, but extremely dangerous vampire Jane. 15-year-old wonder child Dakota Fanning is currently in talks for the part, with chances that the role will go to her. This, of course, will please fans, who had already been asking for a special appearance from Dakota in the film before word got out that negotiations with her were underway.

Shooting for “New Moon” is scheduled to start sometime in March. Granted all goes according to schedule, the sequel should hit theaters on November 20, 2009.
