The admission might come 3 years too late but at least director Louis Leterrier gets points for honesty: in an interview to promote his new film, “Now You See Me,” Leterrier admits that “Clash of the Titans” had horrible 3D.

The film came hot on the heels of “Avatar” and, consequently, tried to ride its coattails and hopefully replicate its box office success.

So the release was pushed back so that it could undergo post-conversion, which turned out to be horrendous and laughable.

“It was famously rushed and famously horrible,” Leterrier finally admits.

“It was absolutely horrible, the 3D. Nothing was working, it was just a gimmick to steal money from the audience,” he adds.

At the same time, he stresses that the decision belonged exclusively with Warner Bros. because he warned bosses it wouldn’t work.

Even if he’s filled with regret, studio bosses must have been happy because the film made a lot of money at the box office. In fact, it made so much money that they even had a sequel out, “Wrath of the Titans.”
