Microsoft announces that the next version of DirectX, labeled 11.2, will be offered exclusively on the Xbox One home console and the new version of Windows, named 8.1.

A technical description is offered in the attached video, and the main feature of the new tech will be called tiled resources, allowing developers to create improved textures for their video games.

On the Xbox One, the use of DirectX 11.2 is possible because of the amount of RAM that the console carries.

Microsoft has not yet said exactly when the new technology will be available but, presumably, various studios will get access to it early to test the new features and use them in their future titles.

The new home console from the company is expected to arrive at some point in November and will sell for 499 dollars or Euro.
