In the aftermath of Lindsay Lohan’s much mediatedappearance in court, mother Dina Lohan is out again speaking to the press in her daughter’s defense. Lindsay is just “a little girl” who “loves to work” and wants to be left alone, Dina says in a recent interview with Good Morning America.
As the video below will confirm, Dina was on GMA the other day and, just like in the many interviews she gave on the subject in the past, here too she makes it sound as if Lindsay’s responsibility in her recent troubles is minimal.
As Dina sees it, the media has a tendency to sensationalize everything, just to put Lindsay in a bad light. Yes, she is now standing trial for grand theft and is even facing the serious possibility of going back to jail for 3 years, but it’s not as bad as they say it is in the press, Dina says.
People need to focus on the positive, Mrs. Lohan, who describes herself as a “lifelong entertainer,” says. Like, for instance, on how Lindsay has been sober ever since completing rehab at the Betty Ford Clinic.
“She‘s matured considerably. [She faces] a lifelong struggle with addiction. I believe [that Lindsay doesn’t drink anymore], and I think it’s gonna be a lifelong struggle with addiction. But I think she’s gonna be okay,” Dina says.
If the media could just leave Lindsay alone, she could learn from her own mistakes, get her life back in order and then return to what she loves the most: acting.
“She’s a young girl struggling. You know, she’s not perfect… She’s learning as she goes, but she’s learning under a microscope, so I can’t even imagine how that is,” Lindsay’s mother says.
“I never thought it would be this – the media would be so crazy. I really never thought it would get to this level. It’s been really hard on my family, harder than anything,” Dina stresses.
What’s even worse is that the media has turned on Lindsay for no reason, her mom says, referring to how she’s been vilified in the media since she was accused (without cause) that she stole the $2,500 necklace she’s now standing trial for.
In the end, Lindsay will be ok, her mother says, because she’s grown enough to learn from her past mistakes.
“I really think Lindsay was at a maturation level that she now understands what she needs to get from it. And she grasps that,” Dina explains.
